What is Baptism?

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is one of the Sacraments practiced by the African Methodist Episcopal Church. It is not only a sign of profession and mark of difference whereby Christians are distinguished from others who are not baptized, but it is also a sign of regeneration or the new birth.

Who can be Baptized?

The African Methodist Episcopal Church believes that all children are members of the Kingdom of God by virtue of the unconditional benefits of atonement; therefore they are entitled to baptism. We baptize persons of all ages. Every adult person and parents of every child to be baptized has a choice of any of the three modes of baptism: sprinkling, pouring, or immersion. Under no circumstance can our ministers re-baptize any person.

You must be a Turner Chapel AME Church member
You must complete the required preparation classes

Required Preparation Classes:

Infants – 12th Grade Baptism Orientation Class

Held the Saturday before the Sunday Baptism at 11am
At least one parent must be present

Pre-marital Counseling

Getting ready to embark on your new journey in marriage? Pre-marital counseling is a must. Please contact Terra White to schedule an appointment.

Get a Ride to Church

Reserve seating for Group Visits
