During the month of May, we have blessed several organizations and families using the generous donations that our members and friends share with the Missions Ministry. Here is a brief synopsis of the success during the month of May.
WMS The Food and Clothing Pantry distributed 4,280 lbs. of food to 67 families in May. Our Senior Commodity Box team distributed 55 boxes of non-perishable food to Seniors in Cobb County. We blessed to partner with Lost Mountain Elementary partner to distribute 50-75 lunches each week.
$500.00 Donation to Marietta Middle School for the 8th Grade Walk
Each year Marietta Middle School engages in a tradition for 8th grade students to walk from the middle school to Marietta High School. This year Turner Chapel was a sponsor to assist with food and bags for the event. If you look closely at the pictures you can see the TCC logo on the bags.
$250.00 Donation to Lockheed Elementary School
Donation was used to support the effort to purchase t-shirts for all 5th grade students that will be transitioning to middle school next school year. We also supplied the school with 10 cases of water for students and teachers use during the school year since the water fountains were shut down due to the pandemic.
Rented chairs for Beyond the Books Academy so that they would have seating for parents and loved ones during pre-school graduation ceremony.
$2500.00 donation to Marietta Mentoring for Leadership
Marietta Mentoring for Leadership's mission is to provide high-potential, under-resourced youth with a community mentor and academic support to maximize their leadership and their personal, academic, and future success. Due to budget constraints, the city school system was unable to provide transportation for students to their annual leadership retreat. Our donation covered the cost of 4 passenger vans for the 50 students and chaperones to travel to the retreat. Attached are pics from the 2019 retreat.
$5000.00 donation to Life for Children Ministry
Life for Children Ministry is a 501c3 Christian charity that focuses on providing orphan, homeless youth and micro-financing small business support in Kenya. The heart of LCM is to provide family-based care for children who have been partially or totally orphaned by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in western Kenya. This donation allows us to sponsor 6 students at $65 per student per month for a full year. Pictures of students in the slide show.
