The Evangelism & Community Purpose area uses Outreach programs to train, teach, and witness for Jesus Christ.  This purpose area is for individuals interested in reaching the lost to bring one person one step closer to Christ.  "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." Matthew 28:19-20.


EVANGELISM MINISTRIES

Alpha 2 Omega

A weekly 12 step group discussion meeting for individuals who are currently struggling or previously struggled with addictions to drugs and alcohol.  The sessions are designed to assist individuals understand the difference between short-term abstinence and long-term recovery and to assist individuals to move beyond their addictions and develop a close working relationship with God in a clean and sober state.

Elder Care & Disability Ministry

The Elder Care & Disability Ministry visits local nursing homes monthly to minister to the residents. As a ministry, we continue to uplift the spirits of nursing home residents by singing, preaching and ministering through the arts.

Mission Trip Ministry

The Mission Trip Ministry seeks to facilitate mission work both in and out of the United States. The goal is to allow members of Turner hands on experience in the global mission field.

Meals of Compassion

The Meals of Compassion ministry provides, prepares, and serves food to the hungry in the Cobb County area with volunteers from the different Turner Chapel AME ministries.

Prison Ministry

Communicates the love of God to those incarcerated and their families through four areas: prison worship services, after-care program, in prison visitations, and correspondence Bible Study.  The primary goal is to bring lost souls and unbelievers into Christ’s kingdom. 

R.E.A.L. Street Ministry

This ministry goes to the street and various areas in the community to witness and canvass for lost souls.  This ministry goes to the hedges and the highways presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to lost souls and unbelievers and informing them about the gift of salvation and Turner Chapel AME.

COMMUNITY MINISTRIES

Benevolence Ministry

The Benevolence Ministry assists members with financial problems and those in the community dealing with hardships, pending availability.

Social Concerns Ministry

This ministry will explore local community, County, National and International issues which might affect the church.

Women’s Missionary Society

WMS endeavors to provide opportunities and resources to address the changing needs and concerns of people throughout the world. WMS meet monthly to discuss how the ministry can effectively impact its community through mission activities.  Its goal is to help one another engage in ministry and action, and grow and respond in faith to God’s redemptive plan for the church, society and the world.
