What is Baptism
The Sacrament of Holy Baptism is one of the Sacraments practiced by the African Methodist Episcopal Church. It is not only a sign of profession and mark of difference whereby Christians are distinguished from others who are not baptized, but it is also a sign of regeneration or the new birth.
Who can be baptizedWe believe that all children are members of the Kingdom of God by virtue of the unconditional benefits of atonement; therefore they are entitled to baptism. We baptize persons of all ages.
Every adult person and parents of every child to be baptized has a choice of any of the three modes of baptism: immersion, sprinkling, or pouring. Under no circumstance can our ministers re-baptize any person.
