Why Go To Sunday School
or
Church At Study?
Its obedient to God
to attend a Church Service to hear the preached Word of God,
and also worship, praise and give honor to Him. But its
also obedient and right to study His Word. Bible Study takes
you above and beyond the preached word and prepares you for
your Eternal Life! Its A Life Changing Experience
that requires interaction and application. Your Sunday School
and Church At Study offers a forum for this and more. Its
also an opportunity to develop genuine relationships and build
a network with fellow believers who will minister to you and
your family in times of need, and who will celebrate with
you in times of joy. Come study with us!
Do I have to attend both
Sunday School and Church At Study?
You can attend one or both!
You decide what
best fits your needs and schedule.
What do you study?
Some classes are involved
in direct Bible
study, by reading books of the Bible or portions of scriptures.
Most classes use biblically based books and material. All
classes are designed to help us acquire greater spiritual
knowledge which we can apply in our lives and also share with
others. A few classes are designed to meet very specific needs,
for example our Children, Youth, Teen, and SHAPE classes.
Please take a look at our class brochures for more information.
What if I don't know
anything about the bible?
You dont have to! You
wont be made to
read or say anything if you dont feel
comfortable doing so.
How big are the classes?
Most are between 10 to 40
students, while
a few can be much larger 50 or more.
How long does class last?
Sunday School last about
1 hour, Church At Study 1 ½ hours. If you need to leave before
class ends, its ok! During most Church At Study sessions
on Wednesday nights, for your
convenience, dinner can be purchased from
5:45 pm to 6:45 pm right before class begins at 7:00 pm.
What about my children
needing to do homework and get to bed at an appropriate time?
Church At Study classes start
at 7:00 pm, and
end at 8:30 pm. For most parents with school
age children, this timeframe gives them the
appropriate time needed to address their
childrens needs. Sunday School is on Sunday
mornings, from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, just before the 11:00
am worship service. You decide which form of Study best fits
your needs and the needs of your family.
Can I ask questions?
Please do! While a few of
our classes are
lecture-oriented, (some people enjoy this) all
of our Bible Study teachers want your input and participation.
How do I find a class?
Simply stop by the Receptionist
Desk in the
lobby and ask for or pick up a class brochure.
Can I just show up?
Sure you can! Though some
classes require
registration and some are designed for a
limited number of students, most classes will
be eager to welcome you!
What if I don't know
anyone?
From the time you start a
class you will! Your
Turner Chapel Sunday School and Church At Study family will be waiting for you. Come
join us!
Do husbands and wives
go to class together or separately?
The choice is yours. Most
classes are for
married and single adults. We do have
specially designed classes for Women and
Men. Whatever your preference, theres a
Bible Study class for you and your family.

The Difference Between Sunday
School and Church At Study
|
|
Sunday School
Sunday School takes place every
Sunday from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, prior to our
9:30 worship service. Most adult classes are
continuous, meaning the study and focus may
change, but the class/students generally stay
together (students are free to change to another
class if they wish).
We periodically offer special
short-term classes with a unique focus/study.
There may be a cost for certain books and
materials.
Our childrens classes
and curriculum are age appropriate, and children
graduate at periodic intervals at the start
of the school year. Registration is normally
not required for
Sunday School.
Church At Study
Church At Study has four sessions:
Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. Most classes
begin at 7:00 pm. Most classes generally last
from 6 to 12 weeks with an approximate two
week break between sessions. Some classes
last longer, like our Disciple classes.
There are a variety of adult
classes offered mainly on Wednesday nights,
while periodically a few classes are offered
on other nights of the week. There may be
a cost for books and materials. There is also
a Wednesday 12-noon Bible Study held in the
chapel at The Cathedral. Most classes require
registration, which takes place approximately
two weeks before a session starts.
Pre-registration is preferred, but most classes
can be joined at any time.
On Wednesday nights, there are
classes for children and youth and the Nursery
is
available. During most sessions, dinner is
served at a minimal cost from 5:45 pm to 6:45
pm.
See receptionist for brochures
in the Lobby for more information for both
Sunday School and Church At Study.
