Baptism

The Holy Sacrament of Baptism is held bi-monthly at Turner Chapel. Candidates for baptism may choose the type of baptism they wish. All candidates or their parent/guardian are required to participate in pre-baptism classes or training.

Forms of Baptism at Turner Chapel

Turner offers the choice of three types of baptism for the baptismal candidates. Baptism by:

  • Apsersion (Sprinkling water over the head)
  • Affusion (Pouring water over the head)
  • Immersion (Lowering the entire body into a pool of water)

Baptism Preparation Classes

The following courses are required of all persons wishing to be baptized:

Parent / Guardian Baptism Orientation Class
Infants - 2nd Grade
One pre-baptism class session

Spiritual Bootcamp
3rd Grade - 12th Grade
One month of required training and meeting sessions (must schedule a month in advance of the requested baptism date).

Adult Baptism Classes
18 years and up
Two session courses
(Saturdays 9:30am - 11:00am)

Baptism Schedule

Baptisms are held bi-monthly on the 4th Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the Cathedral. (Dates are subject to change).
